IN CASE OF SERIOUS ILLNESS OR HOSPITALIZATION
If you or a family member is seriously ill or admitted into the hospital, please call Fr. David at the Parish Office as soon as possible. He will arrange a time to celebrate the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. Due to privacy regulations, it may be impossible for us to find out if you are hospitalized unless you tell us.
If you are anticipating a serious surgery and know the date that you will enter the hospital, you can call Fr. David ahead of time to arrange for reception of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at the Parish office or in your home.
WHO CAN RECEIVE THE SACRAMENT OF ANOITING OF THE SICK?
"The Anointing of the Sick is not a Sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this Sacrament has certainly already arrived. If a sick person who received this anointing recovers his health, he can in the case of another grave illness receive the Sacrament again. If during the same illness the person's condition becomes more serious, the Sacrament may be repeated. It is fitting to receive the Sacrament just prior to a serious operation. The same holds for the elderly whose frailty becomes more pronounced." (CCC #1514-1515) For more information contact the Parish Office.
IN CASE OF A DEATH IN THE FAMILY
Please notify the Parish Office immediately. Fr. David can help you to determine the steps that need to be taken and the phone calls that should be made (to funeral homes, etc). St. Paul can provide a Vigil Service, a Funeral Mass, or a Memorial Service, and a Reception.
HAVE A MASS SAID FOR SOMEONE
Stop by the Parish Office to have a person (living or deceased) remembered at a Mass at St. Paul Parish. The suggested stipend is $10, checks may be made out to St. Paul Parish. You may pick out a card to send to those who would like to know the date.
GETTING AN ANNULMENT OR HAVING A MARRIAGE BLESSED
An annulment is a judgement by a Church tribunal that a marriage between two people was not a sacramental union because one of the essential preconditions for a marriage was not met, such as free consent. An annulment may be granted after a civil divorce is obtained. The process length may vary from several weeks to over one year. To seek an annulment, please contact the Parish Office.
To have a marriage blessed that was not celebrated in a Catholic Church or witnessed by a Catholic clergy, contact the Parish Office. This is not a renewal of marriage vows.
RETURNING TO PRACTICE MY CATHOLIC FAITH
Welcome Home! Before beginning to receive Holy Communion again, please celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation -- to experience both Christ's forgiveness and formal reconciliation with the Church community.
